We are pleased to announce that Altro Levy LLP returned as a Champion Court Sponsor of the 6th Annual RBC Squash Crohn’s Tournament which raised over $61,000.

The event was held on Sunday April 28th, 2013 at Midtown Le Sporting Club Sanctuaire in Montreal. Squash Crohn’s was joined once again by squash legend and world champion squash player Jonathon Power, who put on an exhibition and spent time on the court with top fundraisers! This year, the money raised will support the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation in order to contribute to the very important area of Pediatric IBD research and care.

In 2008, Partner & COO of Altro Levy Matt C. Altro co-founded the event, and over the past six years, the Squash Crohn’s Tournament has raised over $286,000 which has been distributed to various IBD research and care projects.

Very big thank you to all who supported the cause!

Associate and head of our Vancouver office, Jonah Z. Spiegelman, was called to the Alberta Bar on April 5, 2013 and is expecting to be called to the California Bar later this year. Jonah specializes in cross border tax and estate planning.

The firm and team extend congratulations to Jonah and wish him continued success in western Canada. Congratulations, Jonah.

In related news, the Vancouver office is growing with the addition of an administrative assistant who will begin later this month.

Welcome Heela Donsky!

We are pleased to welcome Heela to the Toronto office team. Prior to joining Altro Levy, Ms. Donsky was an associate in the Estate Planning and Wealth Management Group at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in Toronto. She earned her J.D. at the University of Western Ontario School of Law and is a member of the Bar of Ontario. She also holds a B.A. in Business Administration from York University.

Welcome Antoine Brosseau Wery!

We are pleased to welcome Antoine to the Montreal office team. Before joining the team at Altro Levy, he articled and practiced at Miller Thomson Pouliot LLP in commercial and civil litigation. Mr. Brosseau Wery earned his civil law degree (LL.B.) and Juris Doctor (J.D.) in North American common law at l’Université de Montréal. Antoine is a member of the Barreau du Québec.

Welcome April Schulze!

We are pleased to welcome April to the team. Prior to joining Altro & Associates, April was an associate in mid-sized firms in both Grande Prairie and Calgary, Alberta, where she focused on civil litigation, wills, estates, and residential real estate. In 2004, April received her B.A. (Honours) from the University Alberta. She then received her L.L. B from the University of Alberta in 2007, and was called to the bar in Alberta the following year. As a Canadian who has lived, studied and worked in both Eastern and Western Canada, April brings great perspective and knowledge to our clients across Canada. April has joined our Toronto office team, and will be making the move to the Calgary office within the next year.

Welcome Meghan Weinstein!

We are pleased to welcome back Meghan to the Montreal team now that she has completed her graduate studies. Meghan attended the University of Miami School of Law where she earned her J.D. and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She also has a B.Sc. in Psychology, with distinction, from McGill University. Prior to joining the Altro & Associates team as a full-time attorney, Meghan was a summer intern at our firm in 2011. As demonstrated through her academic success Meghan strives for excellence, which makes her an excellent fit for our clients to ensure that their needs are properly addressed.

We are pleased to welcome our new Florida Attorney, Ken Lobo. Ken’s undergraduate studies at McGill University in political science led him to Florida State University College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2009. In May 2010, Ken was admitted to the Florida Bar. Ken has also recently passed the New York Bar examinations and is expecting to be called to the Bar some time in 2011. Ken’s knowledge in the areas of real estate closings, U.S. probate and Cross Border Tax and Estate Planning will certainly make an excellent addition to the Altro Team.

In other exciting news, our own Jason S. Ansel was called to the Quebec Bar on January 25, 2011 and is expecting to be called to the Ontario Bar in 2011. Jason will be specializing in Cross Border Estate Planning and Real Estate.
We would like to extend our congratulations to Jason and wish him lots of success. Keep up the great work Jason!
